Baltic archeology. Yotvingian graves.

Posted by Poruchik0Alex - 12 hours ago

I think, I can publish some information about archeology in Newgrounds. Sure, this theme is so hard for everybody, but I want to do this for:

  1. Make a reference for artists and historical reconstruction
  2. Attracting interest to archeology

My first post about Yotvingian warrior graves. Who are yotvingians? Yotvingians are one of west-baltic tribe, who lived on the East Prussia (now, Kaliningradskaya oblast', Russia), north of Poland (Gdansk) and on south-west of Lithuania. Yotvingians (or sudovians) buried body with horse and weapons (swords and spears). The West Lithuanian Stone Circle Grave Culture area is the third largest territory that has men’s burials with horses among the west Balt cultures. Individual graves with horses in the Roman Period are known in Bogaczewo and Sudovian Culture territory.

Archeology can't make reconstruction of sudovian clothes and household items because... they burned! Scientists can find only iron an bronze parts of weapon decorations and elements of bones. Well, yotvingians are one of MYSTERIOS baltic tribe!
